Chiron and Uranus:
Wound and Medicine in the Astrological Model
June 15 2024 9 AM PDT via Astrology University
If we begin with astrology as a symbolic language – that the symbols of the horoscope are dynamic, archetypal presences -- how do we follow an abstraction into the literal and manifest? In particular, what are the implications symbolized by Chiron, the medicine-making Centaur; and Uranus, the paradoxical figure of freedom and the attendant anxiety of separateness? What hurts us? What makes us well? How do we transmit our formulas for the benefit of others?
In this workshop, we will engage Chiron: part human part horse, part mortal part immortal, wounded, suffering, and transmitting his own process of healing from Apollo – the Sun itself, bringer of plagues and medicine – to Asklepios, to Hippocrates and thus to human beings. We’ll meet Uranus, a relative newcomer in the astrological model, but by virtue of the nature and timing of his discovery, has come to symbolize revolution, the freedom that comes from being the outsider, and the alienation that can produce.
Looking at these two presences together, we’ll look at the current generation of Chiron/Uranus opposition in the charts of alternative (Uranus) practitioners (Chiron), and apply it in both personal and collective horoscopes.

Finding the Medicine with the Astrology of Chiron and Uranus: Constellation Masterclass with Sarah Peyton
April 20-22, 2024 (Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
Life’s path does not ask us to dwell on a treasured wound, but rather to take what has wounded us and find our own unique ways to share the medicine that results from our integration of the wound with others. Working in concert with Jungian astrologer Carol Ferris, the constellations in this session will take as their starting point the locations of Chiron and Uranus in the client's birth chart, and explore the individual ways that we make medicine from what has hurt us.
Constellations are a way of unwinding and unraveling the frozen strands of trauma and buried nervous-system vows from our essential beings, so that we can flourish, live, and contribute our gifts with ease . . .

Astrology’s Pictures:
Horoscope as Image
An introductory astrology class with Carol Ferris
The word “horoscope” tells us what it is, literally: horo = hour; scope = map: a map of the hour. It’s a cross section of earth as center of our solar system. It’s a real hour, a real geography, a real sky. So how do we get from the literal map to our own nature in it?
We get to it by image. Astrology is a symbolic, not a literal, language. It reflects our grasp of nature’s forces and how they move– not just in humans, but in dogs, rivers, clouds. How can we understand our own nature by entering the pictures in the map?
In this four-session class, we will work with our own horoscopes. We’ll greet the planets, nature’s cast of characters. We’ll see their force through their place in the zodiac signs. We’ll see where these forces are moving in our deeply private and expressly public lives, and in our souls. And we’ll see how the complex interactions move us in relationship to our world.
Schedule:
Four classes
Wednesdays 9 am - 10:30 AM
February 7-14-21-28
$500 includes all four courses.
Requires no prerequisite knowledge.
The Sky’s Body
Second Thursday of Every Month
8:30 to 10am PST
In this year-long class, we will explore two narratives, Western Astrology and Classical Chinese Medicine, and apply them to our own stories.
We’ll move from the burgeoning energy of early February (Pisces) – the Lung of the year, where Nature takes a deep breath and begins to carburate both the heavenly system and our individual bodies – through the rich contemplation of high summer and our Hearts (Cancer) – to the digestive discrimination of the Small Intestine and Bladder of later summer (Leo and Virgo)– to final storage in deep winter (Sagittarius and Capricorn).
We will work with individual and collective horoscopes, reading materials, maps, and guest interviews with both Western astrologers and Chinese medical practitioners.
This course is designed for maximum depth and is limited to 10 ppl per year.
Schedule:
Second Thursday of every month
Feb 8 2024 – Jan 9 2025
8:30 AM to 10 am
$1200 / one year
